Hard Drive instillation for 2500?

Anyone know, just ordered a 40 gig harddrive for my 2500, is there any additional hardware needed for this installation?

Nope. Just need a phillips head screwdriver.

Thanks for your input MRock, wasn't sure, while the manual does shed some light on the issue it doesn't go into detail. Just wanted some reassurance. Much props, thanks.

...and don´t forget to have these 4 screws to fix the harddisc, which should have been included to the 2500´s original pack :wink:

got my 2.5 used and the guy had thrown them out. but these are called torx t-8 screws and they're compatible with nearly any laptop hard drive. take it into any shop and they should do it for under 5 bucks.

oh wicked, im getting a used 100 gig harddrive to put in my ibook, so ill put the ibooks 60 gig in the 2500 when i pick it up from my man pat on thursday!

Whats the biggest internal hard drive you use in your 2500?

Right on yaw, thanks. Would have gotten a bigger drive but the 40 gig was the biggest drive tested by Akai according to their website. Anyone currently useing anything bigger than a 40 gig?

There are a few cats here on the forums with 60, 80 even a few cats with 100gig drives. I doubt that you'll ever need anymore than 40. I have a 40 g drive and I have TONS of samples and sequences and I am probably only using 2 to 3 g right now. Dont sweat it bro.

im pretty sure that akai site aproves up to an 80 gig but just like you i opted for a 40gig hd more than enough space,just make sure you save to folders rather than root it will save you a lot heart ache
