Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I don't know if anybody has ever had the same problem, but when I save a beat I made with the all songs, tracks, sounds and I load them the next day, there are cracks in my samples. Can someone help me with this cause this is kinda annoying. I tried to load in new samples and I made a new beat without a problem. then a few days later it starts all over again.

When I had installed my eb16 board I had also some distortion on samples when I listened to the sound after it went into my mixer. When I plugged in my headphones in the mpc this wasn't the case. I fondled a bit with the output cables and it was okay again. It might be something stupid like that.

Well the cracks are in my headphone to. And when I look at the sample in the trim screen there is like a big blue square in the wave. The cracks are more like when you get the clipping on a digital input. And the strange thing is its not everytime, I tried it again today same disk, same sounds and the beat came through. Strange I know :?

Have you ever had problems that your MPC doesn't detect your zip drive or zip disk?

Just a guess here but since you say you don't have it all the time with a specific sample maybe something goes wrong with loading the sample back to the mpc. This might be due to your zip drive getting worn or old zip disk or maybe the cable that's a bit loose...

It might be that the zip is worn, the cable I don't think so. I'll have to find some new zipdrive and some disk, I am working on that. I think it has to do with the zip thats clear because the mpc worksmore than fine. I am thinking of replacing the external zip with an internal (would that solve some problems???) or if I ever find one some card reader.....

ps ook van brussel?

I just installed a card reader and it works great! You have to order it from the uk or germany though. I got mine from http://www.sly.de/ and it costs about 75€ with shipping so it's not really cheap but well worth the money to get rid of the floppy disks. It's the same card reader that is used in that card reader guide:

http://home.tiscali.nl/~smeyer/mpc/

I couldn't find the exact link to the card reader because their site is down at the moment. But it's the IDE/ATAPI 6 in 1 card reader.

Maybe you can find a cheaper card reader cheaper but I did my research and couldn't find much from europe.

ps...Yup...

I would be verry happy to install a card reader, but I have a 2k and not a 2kXl. I need a scsi card reader don't I? And I read on an other forum (wastland.be) that the internal zip drives don't give that much problems (I think krewcial said that). Is this true otherwise if anybody out there can help me with a card reader for a classic mpc 2k, PM me.
