If those are complete, uncorrupted, unziped .bin OS files then, well, that just should not happen.

Option 1: Factory reset the machine (POWER ON whilst holding ERASE). You do do that after every install, don't you? Try loading the OS again.

Option 2: Download the OS files onto the CF from a COMPLETELY different computer system. Ages ago there was a guy on here who had a similar problem due to corruptions that were somehow caused by the computer setup he was using. I don't know if he ever found out exactly why but somebody from Akai told him to try a different system and it worked!

This is also a very good suggestion, ESPECIALLY if the card was last formatted with Akai 2.1.

Don't think so. The person I referred to in the other post had some kind of problem with his particular computer setup. It's wasn't a MAC/PC issue.

im thinking this because if there is a bad sector or something, formatting will mark it bad so it gets skipped. but then again if you have a bad sector on your CF card, its prolly on its way out.

or this guy is full of sh!t and is just baiting us with his story.
