I just bought a MPC 500 I know newbie . I see you can use the MPc as a slave and get sounds from your midi keyboard into the Mpc but is there anyway to use the mpc as the master . In Reason under preferences Reason recognizes the Mpc but can i manipulate the sounds from reason with the MPC ? Any help would be greatly appreciated ...PEACE

Master and Slave are terms usually used when talking about locking together 2 seperate sequencers, so that the 2 sequencers play together in time. So you would sequence Reason sounds within Reason and it's sequencer, and sequence MPC500 sounds within the MPC500 and it's sequencer, and both sequencers would play together in time . Is that what you want to do?

Or do you want the MPC sequencer to send out MIDI On/Off messages to Reason, so that you sequence everthing within the MPC500, and are just playing sounds that are inside Reason from the MPC500 sequencer, without locking the timing of the MPC500 and Reason sequencers together? (for this option you need to set the MPC500 track to a particular MIDI channel, rather than the default MIDI channel OFF)

Yep, set the TrackParams-MIDI Channel setting so that it is a MIDI Channel rather than the default of off, then it will send out MIDI note on/off messages from the pads/sequencer when on that track.

Connect the MIDI out of the MPC500 to the MIDI input on your computer.

Then you have to work out how to get the MIDI messages into Reason.
