That's a pretty straight forward diagram of which resistors he's talking about changing and where they are located in the signal path.

its not necessarily straight forward to someone who doesnt understand schematics and blue prints..

im a very mechanically inclined individual who wouldnt have a problem handling something like this hands on. its just the schematic part that im unfamiliar with.

edit: btw, i just went over to the 60 and took a look at the layout and youre right, it is pretty straight forward..

As mentioned, the resistors should be labelled on the MPC60 PCB with the same labels as they are on the schematic, and should be located near the outputs (either physically or electronically), so they should not be too hard to locate once the machine is apart.

You would probably have to pull the PCB completely out of the MPC to get at the underside of the PCB where the solder is. So make sure you write down or draw pics of where everything goes, and that you know where all screws/connectors go when you are putting it back together. I usually draw a simple pic of where everything is, and then I tape down the screws onto the picture as I remove them, in the same places that they come from, that way I have a visual representation of where each part goes when I am reassembling it.

When removing the resistors, it is probably easiest to clip the leads off of the resistor with a pair of sidecutters (since resistors are a cheap component, don't do that with expensive/hard to find parts), so that you can remove each of the leads individually.

Then you want to remove the existing solder, with a solder wick/pump/desoldering station, before soldering in the new parts.

You don't want to get too much heat onto the PCB for too long or you might burn it and cause the pads/tracks to lift off of the PCB.

He does more than just change resistor values.
If you know anyone who had the mod done by Forat, do the resistor change and then compare the two.
The Forat mod will definitely make you think 12-bit MPC3k for the way it hits.
The resistor change sounds more like a louder MPC60 with a decrease in S/N.

Along with the resistor change swap out the op amps for some with more bandwidth at the increased gains.

Whats the drop in replacement opamp(s) for the 60 MK1 output stage. Has it been discussed which one sounds best or has anyone done this DIY yet?

Not yet I need to get some datasheets on the installed part and then find a drop in part. First i need to finish putting this VFD display in the SP1200

I did a quick google and it looks like the VFD can be used with the Emax.
Is there a post on any site that shows a step by step on this? I havent come across anything so far
