Hard Drive instillation for 2500?

Curious, folder seem intuitive, but wondering if you recommend a paticular method or where i might look to find such savy info, not experienced with saving folders into mpc yet.

I've used my 2500 with a 80GB disk for about 3 months now. Here's what works for me; I always make a new folder for a new song/project in my "Workfolder" on the drive and then use the save entire memory to that folder. Never had any problems with it. Keeps everything neat and tidy on my disk, and when I start working again i go to my workfolder and then pick the folder for the spesific song and choose load. This loads all my settings/effects/files etc. and I start my work exactly where I left off when I saved and switched of the MPC.

Matt/ anyone, are you storeing the bulk of your sample libraries on the hd as well or loading them from a computer and just saving your work on the HD or both, curious? Because up until recently, ive just been useing the mpc for triggering sounds/samples from my computer via midi, where my libraries are located. Then sending my sequenced tracks/data back into logic for mixing or what not, only because im a relative new mpc owner. But the feel of the mpc is extraordinary so im really wanting the best of both worlds. So im just probing senseable ways of working w/in it, folder structure and what not, and would actually like to stay w/in the mpc for much of my production especially drums. Organization is essential when you got hella gigs of drums and songs. So any ideas on structuring/partitioning the HD by folders, sample libraries, or what not would be much appreciated.

KD, I can only speak for myself, but with the size of the HD I installed I really don't take the time out to worry about space. I've got my Workfolder as mentiond before witch contais all my subfolders one for each song/project. Then I have a folder for all my selfmade beats, one folder for kits I've bought fro KicksandSnares.com with subfolders named after the kits ( JustKicks 1, JustKicks 2 etc.etc ), one folder for various other sounds with corresponding subfolders and so on....good old fashioned structure that makes logic and eases the prosess of finding soundfiles. My working method include browsing my libraries for sounds, and I really put a lot of them on the internal disk...I have maybe 1000 snares and 1000 kicks and so on, so to me structure is crusual. Then there's the matter of loading the sound into the MPC's internal memory witch I've got juiced up to 128MB, so there's more or less enough room for what I want to load. Hope this could be of any help to you....

....and yes, I'm storing the bulk of all these kind of sounds on my internal MPC drive....

hey do you need to format the hard drive via a pc first or does the mpc do it for you ?

Never mind, I did it.

You need to format the drive in the MPC.

How exactly do you format the drive once connected?

Go to save or load menu.
Highlight the Memory Card and switch it to Harddisk. Press "WINDOW" and here you have the opportunity to format.

go into the load or save menu
then select hard disk
and utility (F3)
there you go
