Is it possible to damage REC in with over clipping.? MPC1000

My 1000 Rec through is signif lower while the MPC (pre Recrded snds) are playing. It is possible to damge the REC in through over clipping.??

Damage the actual input or the audio? If you mean audio then if its clipping do it over.

What are you recording from? Turntable?

Yes recording from mixer wid RCA's.
Im i damaging the actual input.? When its at the right level the input monitoring is a lower volume than the pre recorded sounds.
Is it possible the pre recoreded/arranged pads are to loud or have i dameged the REC in???

your mpc could be set to +6 db in the master vol section, playing your pre recorded samples at +6db louder than they were recorded and making the input vol seem lower.

EDIT actually i see your talking about the pre recorded samples that come stock with the 1000? if so your recorded samples will tend to be a little bit lower in volume as these pre recorded samples have probably been mastered to 0db.

the record in seams lower because i keep layering and turning up my samples, at the right -12db master.
the stock sounds are a good refference level.
I'd still like to know if its possible to damage the REC in wid over clipping.

I once heard that amp/speaker signals can damages rec inputs, I don't know for sure, ask around about that

i have f*cked up a couple pieces of gear when i was younger because of this. i would run audio thru a guitar amp for distortion fx. I hooked up the headphone jack of a guitar amp to the inputs of my gear . I had the guitar amp at crazy high volume.

I wouldnt worry about the volume being too high though, as long as you dont go crazy with it like i did.
