I still think it should come with the FX card and 8 outs for that price, but I always wanted something new and I have the money to afford any MPC now, hmm

I wouldn't get a 1000 based on the horror stories I've heard about the pads sticking and/or going dead in little time.Has anyone here had any luck with a 1000 over time?

Truth be told the 1k was my first MP ... I used it for the last 2 years and it was dope. I made a bunch of dope arrangements and got the feel for the mpc in general. I traded my 1k for a 2kxl knowing that they have similar features with new OS and so forth but the only reason i gave up the 1k is i know im on the beats alot and those pads are dinky along with the feel of the unit. I think it is an awsome machine as far as simplicty goes but if you know what your doing and its part of your daily habits ide say go with a different machine. By any means a new comer, ide say rock the 1000 till the wheels come off - just my opioion.

Yeah I had noticed that. It's now under "legacy products" on the akai site.
