If the OS development is slow... make it Open Source!

Well, I really wouldn't know if the OS can be easily made generic or compatible with all mpc... maybe there are things that would work, but I'm not the one to answer that... hehehe

Well, submited the OpenMPC project to sourceforge.net to see if anybody gets interested. If you do, join the project!

Have you written a basic OS yet, I would imagine this would be a massive massive task as only akai/roland have realy taken this on.

There is no OS yet.

There is, though, this Aksy project, which aims to create a great substitute for AK.Sys. There have been major improvements like:

- You can actually transfer files to the MPC4000
- AksyFS: mount the sampler's memory and disks as a file system on the host system
- And a GUI: Aksui,

In any case, about the OS, I have managed to get one or two hackers interested. In fact, there is a list that considered the fact of porting the linux kernel, which is tickless at the moment (RealTime kernel)

I will not give up! Maybe one day we can put up a group of developers to bring up some linux-based Sampler OS... A generic one... and maybe some API for the different samplers around.

Oh, about Aksy, forgot one thing.

The guy developing FreeCycle, which is an alternative to ReCycle, is working with these guys to integrate FreeCycle with the sampler. This means Aksy will be sequencer enabled! In fact, you will be able to edit samples, slice, blah, blah, blah...

Actually No.
One of the biggest draws to the 4k for me is it keeps me away from the computer, I like to do as much as possible prior to heading for the DAW.

that's a question of taste... I prefer doing everything on my PC.
