*Connect the MPC wid the Electric Guitar*

i wonder if i can connect my Electric Guitar AMP wid my MPC when i get it in 2 Months...
Is that possible
That would be **** great if i can record my guitar play on the mpc and use that as sample...

you can plug a 1/4 inch guitar cable into one of the stereo in's on the mpc... like pretend the guitar is a record player.. why wouldnt it work? common sense.

i've recorded my bass into my mpc before.. works fine

Are you sure? You cant run a guitar directly into a line input, the bass plugged in was probably active so that works. Try the line-out of the amp, that should work.

I don't really remember now but I think it will work directly. Either way though, it would probably be better to run it through something else first so that you can get effects instead of just running it direct into the MPC.

I'll try it again and post what happens, but I recall trying it directly and it working

it works on very hard distorted guitars yes, but a guitar itself is a very low signal, when putted on a line you just don,t hear anything, and when you do, it has probably a very bad sound, specially at the low end.

so get your self a DI box, it makes the high impedance guitar level, to a studio standard line level of -6db to 4+db. also ofcourse the noise floor is this way much better in balance with the max guitar level. btw you can fit the guitar in a mic input, but it sounds way better over a real di box.

DI boxes dont cos,t you a thing, you get em from 40 euro (45 dollar) new up to 500 euro for like an avalon di

BTW a lot of little mixers, (like the soundcraft compact m4) have also a guitar di input. they cost only 90 euro,s newprice and you also have then 2 stereo line,s and mic inputs to your mpc so this is pricewice and feature wice maybe a better solution for people that need to record a guitar at line level, but would also record more equipment without the needs of reputting cable,s



As you can see, the second mono channel allows the mic input switched to guitar DI level input.

you can hook up anything to the MPC the same as any other recording device. guitar straight in is not recommended, but this doesn't work well for most recorders, unless they have built in effects and signal boosting as outlined in the above posts.

but direct from the lineout of your amplifier should work fine. you can also mic your amp, hooking the mic into the MPC and sample that way.

my current setup is the MPC is receiving signal from my mixer. the mixer has all kinds of stuff hooked up to it: VCR, DVD player, turntable, 3 synths, mics, guitar amp lineout, DI bass signal. so any sound source that needs to be sampled can be, just by hitting RECORD on the MPC....

I must have been thinking of my old ASR-10 when I said to plug it in directly, cause I tried it again on the MPC and yeah, it didn't work without an amp in between.

The ASR had a switch on the back to switch the inputs from LINE or MIC level, and the guitars worked pretty well on MIC level. Would be cool if the MPC had something like that.

it will sound awful if you do, get yourself a preamp with DI. tech21 sansamp is really nice but there is a copy from behringer that should do the job.

yes this works fine. i pulled it off with a crappy guitar that i got from my homie awhile back all you need is an amplifier or filter of sorts... or you can apply the filter in the mpc to the sampled guitar riffs and blah blah blah.... and with the jj os you can directly record live audio to your sequences... don't just take my word for it

that thing is damn cool...i can use that for almost every kind of item i want to connect ^^

so how does that work wid the guitar ?
i have problems to make the mixer play my guitar sounds when i connect my guitar...
