Every beat and I will tell you why... I chop drums on the MPC and when I make a kit a like to layer a Low Pass Filtered version of the same kick drum sample to give it that thump.. Always, every beat. Sometimes I LPF the bass too. All the other effects are on the sometimes schedule...
If you chop breaks on your MPC then it is a must have tool.

You don't need the Fx board to do that. The MPC comes standard with a Lowpass filter.

Although useful, adjusting the Frequency parameter at the Program level does not provide the save effect as cutting the High Freq Dbs while simultaneously increasing the Low Freq Dbs when using the 4 band Filter effect available in the EB16... So in this case its more of a Band-Pass Filter, but still far more useful than just adjusting the Feq parameter at the program level...

Thanks for pointing that out. I never used the eb16 for filtering, I need to look morte into that it seems.

i always use it for every beat
like said before, for drums i use the lo pass and the other effects are dope too. and all in the same machine, how can you afford to pass that up?

All about teh FX card. Not so much on drums, but I use echo and reverb on pitched down sample chops. Also sometimes distorsion to.The FX card gets used by me alot. But that low pass ish is a good idea.PEACE

I'm playing around with mine since I only got it recently. So far I really like it...

you need to apply a bit of disortion alot of the times to get better results, it can be pretty subtle without.
