recording itunes into mpc getting lag?

okay i have the optical out from cpu to reciever then out to digital in mpc i can hear music fine thru mpc headphones.
i set recording in digital mode but when i record i get a lag the sample plays real slow?
why is this does it have something to do with mpc sampling at 16bit?

I go right from my headphone jack to record in and it sounds just fine. I don't see the reason to go digital.

i mean i'll try that now i need to find out what is causing it to play back slower in mpc.
Has this happened to anyone or can anyone try it to see if it's just me.

What sampling rate is your PCs digital out set to?

And there is your answer.. I believe the higher the sampling rate, the slower the audio travels..

yep that was it it was set to 48000Hz.
had me trippin. now i know.
