will any type of ram work? and what the largest?

I work at circuit city and we got mad ram here Can i buyit from here and install it in the mpc? I just dont wanna ruin my shit cause I had an old 2kxl and I installed a card reader... 1 month later it stoped detecting the card reader I just don't wann ruin something i paid 2g's for to get ruined from aftermarket equipment

Then just buy the OFFICIAL AKAI EXM128 memory. You're only gonna be saving a few dollars anyway.

kingston laptop ram (256mb) is what I am using. I've had it installed for over a year now... no probs! Search the forums really well to get the exact part #. Search the 1000 forum, real helpful info there.

hmm i thought the 128mb ram was the biggest size... damn it

I just bought (brand new) and installed Kingston ValueRAM 256MB 144-Pin SODIMM PC 133 (CL3) LOW PROFILE (KVR133X64SC3L/256) and it does not work!

It just hangs on the screen that says "MPC 2500 ( 128MB INSTALLED )"

I've taken it out and put it back in 5 times, but it just doesn't work!

return it and get the same again, sounds like you got faulty ram. THAT i have heard of, regardless of the ram's origin.

and palmtree - 128 ram IS the biggest side. the mpc reads the 256mb ram as 128.

Thats the most that the MPC will read. Basically, you are putting 256mb in but the MPC is only reading half of that...156mb. If you bought 128mb of another compatible brand, the MPC would only read half and you'd only have 64mb. Get it?

I returned the RAM and got a new stick of exactly the same type sent back to me.
It works!!!
