XL or 2500?

I dont know which to get, the XL I'm thinkin of gettin is the multi card version, please give me suggestions

If you can afford it, I would say to go for the 2500. Although I've never used to xl before, I've read about features the 25 has that the xl doesnt like built-in effects, q-link sliders, usb port, better step editing, better sample editing, more potential sample time and hard disk space, etc. I don't know if the 25 "sounds" as good as the xl, but fuk it, you could always get an additional rackmount sampler if need be. But why dont you tell us what you're looking for in an mpc, and maybe we could better assist you in the right direction?

2500 for sure unless the price is an issue. 2500 is a more stand alone unit, it can house your sample libraries w/ an option Hard drive up to 80 gigs and you can sample cd's and burn in that piece, but if price is an issue or you dont need the extra features, for ex. if you already use a DAW and just want the feel of the MPC then get the 2000. Either way their both nice The forum's got tons to say about both check the features figure which one is the best option for you.

I've had both I'm still learning but there are such many more options on the 2500 that you don't have on the 2kxl and with the upgrades there are endless possibilities I mean with the 2500 and a midi keyboard I mean you can do everything...

i used to have a 2000xl and i have to disagree with that. i think step editing and sample editing was better in the 2000xl. everything else though, the 2500 is better.

by the way, you can get a 2000xl with internal effects or if it doesn't have them, you can buy and install them.

The MPC 2000XL (as well as the 3000) were my main MPCs for years until the 2500 dropped...I can't recall step editing being better on the XL..and sample editing on the XL is mos def not better or easier than 2500.

Hmm...Well the XL step editing being worse than the 25 is just what I've heard from other people, but I guess it's just a matter of opinion. And I didnt know that some XL's had effects that came with it standard, so my bad on that one

The XL was sold in standard, studio, and studio plus. The standard versions had no options. I am not sure but I think the studio plus had the effects board installed.

My only dislike on the 2500 is the data wheel i had a 2000xl so long the spin faster spin slow was second nature. Which now you have to use the fader or punch numbers or it will take all day. I prefered the 2000xl slice/zone edit for chopping over chop shop which then took out all together. No Tune Off Fuction in your program just poly and mono. But there are alot of pluses on the 2500 cheapier then when i got my mpc2000xl standard stock. 8 outs , effects, 4 ways to save (computer via usb, CF card,CD & Hard Disk[big plus.], more midi channels, more ram. In general if its your frist one you'll like it if your like me and have had mpc's since the mpc60 theres about a 4hr learning curve. As far as bang for your buck 2500
