LEAVING THE MPC ON!

is it dangerous to leave your mpc on for long periods of time??
im talking a few days = long time.

i have a habit of leaving my mpc on for days at a time. ive owned mine for over 2 years and never had problems with doing that but i dont want to do damage to it down the road.

Im also curious about this. Sometimes I leave my mp on for a couple of days. Sometime I even fall asleep with a beat loopin, so the ish is playin all night. Is this bad? I wouldnt think so but yall probly know better than me.

The only thing I would worry about would be the LCD burning out.

It is best not to do this.

I used to leave mine on like that and a short time later it developed vertical lines in it and I had to replace the LCD display. Now I never leave it on. If you leave it on for any extended period of time; put your hand on the LCD and you'll feel the heat that's generated... Not a good thing over a period of time.

Who knows how to do the switch mod on the LCD to turn if off/on....

is it difficult to replace the LCD? and what is involved?

Heat is the number one cause of componant failure.

The switch mod? well, that would be easy to do for just the backlight to preserve it, but for the whole lcd is a different story and I wouldn't **** with it.

i just press shift and rotate the dial to fade the screen out when i am just messin with the beat looping.

Adjusting the fade won't have any effect on the backlight which is your #1 source of heat in that part of the machine. For those of you who like to tinker... you can fabricate a cooling fan behind the LCD and tape into the +5v power from floppy drive.

Replacing the LCD is very easy, but remember that the component itself is delicate and you don't want to do anything that can cause any of the LCD contacts to misalign (over torking screws, trying to force any of the parts into or out of their place...etc..)

What are you using for your baselines? I'm just getting started and I can't fing anything that will give me the sounds I'm looking for. Your tracks have some styles of bass that I'm trying to get.

yeah i got lines on my screen. other people cant even read what the screen says sometimes. i know whats up though sh!t NOBODY besides me can figure out how to press my cursor down button either. my sh!t has bonus security features lol

shit the lcd cost about 199$. Ill just sell my **** mpc and cop another one if I ever see a small line developing on the screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
