i wanna shoot my mpc in its face

yesterday i made a post about muted tracks playing when i record unmuted ones in. so after millions of trial and error like recording sessions i said "what do i do now?"

so i went to the trim screen and lowered the volume on the track that WASNT supposed to play.

and it worked

i was able to record a bassline without the piano coming in

so what happens next?

i reraise the volume because now its time to record the piano in.

AND IT DOESNT PLAY AT ALL!!!!

i spend hours and hours trying to figure out why it keeps playing when i dont want it to

then i want it to and it doesnt

does anyone have ANY ideas?

is my MPC toast?

i am really about to throw it out the window

and there is alot of snow out there

so it will get wet

Does that happen when you are trying to sequence with midi or with internal samples?

i dont really understand whats goin on. you say you have a sample, right? and it has a piano and a bass. and you wanted to use both the bass and piano seperately?

if thats the case then this is what I would do.

Put that same sample on two different pads. If you have 8 outs, i would send the one pad to 1 channel on the mixer and send the other pad to another channel.

For the bass, you could simply filter the sample and leave the low end there as your bass. that should get rid of the piano.

For the piano you could cut that bass out by using a low cut filter. it will cut the low end and leave the mids and/or highs which should include the piano.

that should take care of the problem...that is...what I think is the problem

sometimes learning the thing makes you want to tear your hair out.

just keep with it and you'll get it.

human error most likely, you cant lower track volume from the trim screen, only the sample volume. you can lower the velocity of the midi tracks from the main page.. try explaining it better.

are you recording midi or audio???
