Did you guys download the new update for the 1000? This update is for bugs only and no other feature.

i've spoken with tech support and was told they never heard of this problem with uneven pad velocity. I doesn't seem possible. He also didn't mention anything about the hidden screen to adjust velocity. I read that here. I have OS 1.03. Is there something higher???

I had mine for 3 days now and haven't had it happen (knock on wood) but like I said 3 days. I been on it a lot in 3 days though.

after this thread reaches 5 pages we ought to forward it to akai tech support...
I've had my 1000 for like 2 months, and have several issues that have been voiced in this thread, and some that have not.
I've had a glitch develop in a sample at the end of a loop, though it looped seemlessly in the TRIM menu, when I would trigger it from anywhere else, I would get a loud pop during the FIRST LOOP ONLY...adjusted the trim further and the same thing happened...no difference, same popping. Uneven velocity has been eveident to me, but I figured I was "breaking in" the pads or just getting used to them myself.
Other issues I have:
the Note Repeat crapped out on me after a week of use...
the data wheel is all wobbly like its rotating on a plastic straw...
the filter section is WEAK (no DELAY?, minimal parameters, questionable sound quality, etc), and is not "real time' as they say it is,
and on that subject, no samples can be adjusted while the sample is in play. Might make sense to a newbie, but if you've already had a taste of say a 3200xl with a sampleVerb FX card in it, you're gonna be disappointed.
I really like my 3200xl rack sampler, and was expecting to see the same or similar power in the MPC1000. It kinda feels like a toy sometimes. But in all fairness it is a third of the price I originally paid for my old sampler.
Me, I'm thinkin' I might jump up to the 4000, and see if it does any better.
Maybe that's the akai strategy after all...though the 4000 still has that same data wheel (??????)
First things first though, I'm gonna take in the 1000 to have the note repeat fixed, and mess around some more. Maybe the thing will grow on me. You know how say your little bother is retarded and you might be embarrased or hate him at first, but then you slowly learn to appreciate his qualities and love him just for being your bro? Maybe it'll be like that.

please excuse tasteless joke. i'm serious tho about the 1000. What gives?

I think i have the same problem as well(the netherlands). It occurs when i play one paticurly song with very large loops in it. Then when i mute the tracks some samples stop playing while they should play. Also very annoying. I think this is basicly the same problem. I have to examin this problem betterso i can write it better down because this is a very big issue to me.

If ya'll are serious about forwarding this to akai I'd like to say that they should definitely put in a delay, fix the Q-links so you really do have real time control over samples for sweeps, add timestretch, BPM match, pitchshift, give us the ability to make changes while a sequence is playing, and make the USB more useful, at least make it so that we don't have to stop everything just to load something onto CF from PC.

We're already handicapped enough with this thing that we can't add more outs or add an FX card, and have to put up with a non tilt screen. I feel these things are enough to justify the lower price of the 1000.

If we end up not liking the 1000 and want to upgrade, we'll just end up selling our 1000 and buying a used 2000xl or a used 4000, and, Akai, you won't be seeing none of that money! Be smart! If you (Akai) made these changes the 1000's would fly off the shelf and you'll make more money on it than you ever will on the 4000. These are all OS related, so what re-write and add some new code, I doubt that's going to cost more than putting together a whole new product, like say a 1000xl. Shit! 1000xl I shouldn't give them any ideas! If these dudes make a 1000xl I'm going to be pissed off! I still might continue to buy Akai products, but bet that ass from then on it would all be used. I would make sure my money doesn't go to them anymore!

Just make a complete package, Akai!

Doesn't the 2000xl have more bugs thn the 2000?

By Kokos Sun Mar 28, 2004 9:39 pm
I'm from the netherlands, and had that same problem, yesterday on stage. :)
It was funny, but isn't supposed to happen.
It only happens with seq with lots of sounds happening at the same time, so that sounds like hardware, not software.

It's not funny.

:)

How long have you had the mpc1000 before the problem started?

By tinycat Mon Mar 29, 2004 4:33 am
interesting.... fwiw, on the ocassions i have had the problem it was not when a lot of samples are playing at the same time. even so there is no reason why it could not be software.

A couple times when a sample dropped off, it actually sounded really dope! It made a really dope break in my track, but it's not that dope when I don't program it to do that!

I'm having a really weird issue with my 1000.
In any program (doesn't matter which one) pad B10 *will* trigger the sample as normal, but will not record it into the sequence. All the other pads work fine, as do A10, C10 and D10. When I go into step edit mode, the note info is not there, and even weirder, will not let me insert this note manually.
I called Akai and they said it must be a hardware issue, so I took it back and got a brand new one...which does the exact same thing! What are the odds? Does anyone else have problems recording note B10 into a sequence?
