where can I go to get my mpc 1000 fixed

This is whats wrong:

The smartdisc drive is not working. Pads 1-4 are not triggering well -- they hardly respond. F1 is maybe going or gone.

How much do you think it will cost

I won it off ebay for $305(did i get ripped off)

I don't know. Call them tomorrow and let them know what needs to be repaired. I'm sure they will give you a reasonable estimate. They're the best... so you'll get your money's worth!

ouch.
the CF card reader is gonna take a while because apparently all those parts are backordered
and the pads they'll definitely charge you for.

good luck

Do you think its not worth fixing

By littlerob Tue Mar 06, 2007 9:27 pm
i really dont recommend buying certain things off ebay, and honestly i think a used mpc 1000 could hav many potential problems. it could b just somethign to do with mpc 1000 as opposed to other models, but i had the same problem when i originally bought mine. it would switch off after about 10 minutes of usage. thought it was the os, thought i was my inexperience, the bloke i bought it off on ebay would just reply to my emails saying i just didnt know how to use it. it was definitely broken. it would constantly freeze, and there were always problems saving (altho this may hav been a problem with akai os at the time). so i sent it to get repaired (this is in the uk). oddly enuff the delivery company who collected the mpc from my house to deliver to the repairs company (akaì´s official repairs company is a shop called "cimple solutions") lost the mpc. so i actually managed to get cimple solutions to send me a brand new black mpc 1000 (this was just b4 it was officially released as well) as i paid insurance for the delivery. literally the most lucky situation in the world. so i only paid about 350 quid for a black mpc. obviously it was originally a broken blue mpc, but in the end...it turned better than i could hav ever expected.

moral of the story, if u r gonna buy an expensive electrical piece of equipment of ebay, collect urself, and test it. or better still buy from a second hand shop where u hav a much better chance of returning the item if it is broken. this is expensive eqipment, and i for one was very pissed when i thought i had to pay even more money to fix it. the guy i bought the mpc from had dodgy contact details, wouldnt return my calls. ebay were unlikely to do shit. so if the delivery company didnt lose my mpc, i would hav been screwed. ironic situation. but seriously be careful buying these sorta things off ebay. 8 times out of 10 itll work out good, but there r dodgy ppl out there. the guy i bought the broken mpc off also had top ratings, and was a power seller. i havnt used ebay sense as its scared the shit of me after that.

I was told of the problems and I'm just wondering if I should fix it or off it. I dont hav enough money too buy a brand new one so , i tought i might be able to fix this one for less.

Is it worth it I paid 305 usd for it??

damn man!! your mpc is fup!!! IMO You can get a local place to look at, they will charge like 35 dollars for it. IMO thats what i would do, so i could get a price check. Then you can decide if it is worth it.

holy hell yes
that's an excellent price, and you can have it all fixed (if you do some stuff yourself) for under 150.

yeah - just get a hard drive and adapter and you can use it like a cf card via usb.

as far as the pads, you can do both temporary solutions and longterm solutions. however, i hate to make a plug but i've been working on a solution for this design flaw myself. check out the forums to see about that.

where are you from? i could mail you a tact switch if you're in the states. to fixing one of the f keys is really easy, just takes a little soldering.
