i just hooked up a external zip drive to my mpc 2000(not xl) and it says to "wait. . . . " is this normal? its been on for a very long time telling me to wait

What scsi id of the drive set to and is the termination switch set on or off ?

my buddy told me about a switch. but this zip drive doesn't have any switch whatsoever. its an iomega 100mb zip drive

im guessing its the cable thats not working or the drive because i hooked it up to my PC and the drive didn't show up on the computer

You have the wrong sorta zip drive.
A scsi drive will have two switches on the back. Thats the kind of Zip drive you need.
