PGM

By WhereMyMoney? Wed Mar 07, 2007 7:51 pm
Ok this has probally been coverd a hundred times but when I search I can't find my answer. My question is how do I do a pgm. I want to have 4 preset pgm things so I dont have to load up sounds every time just load up a pgm with all my preset files. But I have no clue on how to make a pgm. I saw the maker for mac but im on windows. Is there any way to make a pgm that way I load it and all my sounds come up on my pads?

If someone could inform me a little more about how these work it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Okkk THANks lampdog.
A simple yes or no will work for this next question and I dearly appreciate all the help and patience from you guys! I am gonna help out here as much as possible.

But I got the blue 2000xl mpc and I want to hook up a CD disk drive to the back will any SCSI kind work?

Ok I downloaded MPC Editor for windows. Saved the program file to my desktop along with the wavs and this is what I got. From here am I suppose to put this onto a cd. and load the program file up in the mpc and wala its all on the pads? Because..... this program gave me alot of errors before I finally got it where it worked. It seems like an old program I just need some advice on if I am doing this right. Hers my desktop.

if you're trying to make a program of the sounds from your computer, then you'll need MPC editor

http://www.midicase.com/mpceditor/

you can load sounds, and then save them as a .pgm and then load it onto your 2k or 2kxl

Ya thats what I used in the picture but im asking like how do I get it to my mpc? Do I just copy and paste all the files on my desktop to a cd and then load only the pgm file on the mpc?

doesn't your blue mpc have the card reader?

just get a CF card and load all the wavs and pgm files onto it and load it up

I don't own a card reader for my computer and I already have a scsi cd reader so I would rather do it my way so I dont waste more money. But I guess im doing it right. thanks for the help.

FIRST.PGM and all those other sounds should be placed inside 1 folder together (on the desktop is fine), got it, good.

Burn that folder to a standard data cd iso 9660, (standard data cd format) I use to use Nero for this but damn near any burn program can do this also.

In case you were wondering, I also have a scsi ext hd and cdrom for my on my 2kxl. I've done this MANY times before. It works fine.

This cd will be readable via scsi cdrom by 2kxl, NOT 2k.

So, load your pgms and sounds via that cd.

Dude your badass lampdog! I im having trouble I decided to go with a 8gb sd card. I bought a card read/writer and put all my samples and drums on it. When I put it into my MPC it does nothing. I try to go to the load screen and open it but nothing comes up to where I see my shit. Is it a flash rom or what do I do can you point to the right chapter or something because I just got this and im frustrated. But im keepin it cool. Just go to try and figure it out. You got any suggestions? Maybe do I need to do that nero thing you said?

mpc 2kxl reads max of 2 GB capacity cards (if you make partitions on it).By the way, flash cards work better than sd cards - less problems.

Thanks for the advice I was going threw my manual and for some reason it does not say anything about my card reader. Is this normal or did I get the wrong manual. But ya im going back to the store and getting a couple flash cards. Hey man if you don't mind telling umm how do I partion this card?

When I go to my load screen I try to load up my sounds and it will only load like 8 sounds and then it says not enough memory and when Im in the load screen in my manual it says under TYPE it says MPC2000XL and for me it says PC. Anyone could tell me how to get all my sounds on here that would be great. Im thinking I need to load it to the card and not the MPC. I could be wrong tho. If you guys help me out with this I can start making beats. And I will be out your hair this is my only problem I have. Thanks for all the help.

Maybe you have the default 2mb motherboard memory.
How much memory do you have in your mpc? The manual can tell you how to check it out.

and when Im in the load screen in my manual it says under TYPE it says MPC2000XL and for me it says PC.
It will say whatever your media was formatted on. If it was formatted on pc then it will say pc.

Anyone could tell me how to get all my sounds on here that would be great. Im thinking I need to load it to the card and not the MPC.
If you load to the mpc, you need enough memory in the mpc to handle your samples. Again, how much memory do you have in your mpc?
