I'm curious to know why everyone is so excited about this.

I'm assuming it'll work just like the sliders do currently. By which I mean that the slider function depends upon which track/program you currently have 'active'.

To me that kind of limits the functionality. Why not just use the sliders themselves? What's so exciting about using sliders on a different midi controller?

it'll allow us to use more than 2 at one time, as well as a variety of different types of control

ie, pressure sensor instead of slider
knob instead of slider
infrared sensor instead of slider

also, there are daw pgms which allow you to draw the midi cc with a mouse onscreen, and then send it out via midi. that'd allow for us to draw QLINK sweeps/fine increments on the DAW.

lots of different uses, but primarily it'd mean instant access to a number of differnet qlink functions w/out having to assign em to 1 of the 2 qlinks.

this would also leave the qlinks free to use for time shift/swing in grid edit without also changing qlink data.

digit - regarding the zipper noise, i'd run it through antares autotune afterwards, that'd most likely be a must for such an use

Ah, I guess that's the biggie. Do you have some confirmation of this? I imagined it would work by allowing the user to assign an incoming cc# to the existing qlink assignments, which means you'd still be stuck with 2 (or 4 for the 2500).

jj should implement direct parameter control via cc

....you know, i'm not sure jj's gonna patch the qlinks right out of the setup here. its probably gonna be just cc#xx> qlink1, cc#yy> qlink2 yeah?. so i doubt there will be any more routing options than there already is now, just the ability to have the mpc's qlinks follow other inputs than the built in sliders....

let me know if u disagree, but i thought that with the mpc already being unable to assing two simultaneaous 'note on' slider functions to one pad/track - then this would still limit how the new setup would take shape.

this may be the first step, but if so it should and probably will be made so it just bypasses the slider assignement altogether-

ie instead of assigning a midi cc to slider and then to qlink data, it'd just assign a cc to qlink data. IN ADDITION TO, rather than INSTEAD OF. i think jj's wise enough to make that call, and if it doesn't happen right away, it will because it's a logical step.

holy shit. does that mean i can assign features to the knobs of my oxygen 8 (or one day better controller when that day comes). i.e control filters from the mpc via the rotary knobs. that would b the shit. i might b wrong with wat this feature. the fadars r nice, but using filters on rotary knobs is a lot more effective in my opinion (particularly in a dj sense).

Yeah maybe, but you'd still be constrained to whichever track was currently selected. That's the way q-link parameters work. That's the limiting bit for me, rather that the amount of q-links I can control at once. <gloat mode> although I do have double the sliders you do </gloat mode>

hahah that's all well and good...but quick question
how often do you physically control 2 qlinks and the 2 knobs just above them at the same time?
