copying a track

okay, i have my drums on track 2 right, and i have to start a new sequence but how can i copy the drums to the new sequence. because i dont want to play them again. i cant copy the whole sequence because i dont want to. i need just the drums in the new sequence.

I'm having the same issue also. Maybe I'm missing something, but the manual only covers how to copy tracks to other tracks within a sequence and also explains how to copy a sequence to another sequence. Does anyone know where in the manual (for the 2kxl) it covers copying a track to anther sequence?

Oh, I forgot to mention that the way I work it out is by copying the entire sequence then I just delete the tracks I don't need from the copied sequence. Maybe this helps or maybe I going 'bout it the long way!

maybe he can ghostwrite some tracks for me........ha ha ha ha ha.......

yup its in the manual........every function of the mpc is strangely.....

This is how I do it too, as far as I know the only way to copy a TRACK and TRACK only is within the sequence it resides. One thing you could do is MUTE all the tracks you don't want on the original sequence COPY it over to a new sequence and delete ALL muted tracks from (OPEN WINDOW) on the track and then you will have only the one track in the new sequence. Hope this helps...

yea i think that might be the only way. thanks.

Plus if you MUTE tracks from the orig sequence, you can go into new one and do "Delete" all Muted Tracks. I would rather manage muted tracks with my pads and then do DELETE ALL Muted tracks instead of deleting each one individually in the new sequence.

press the edit button (whateva F button it is) and tell it what track you want to copy from what sequence, and the bars to copy. then on the other side tell it to what track and what sequence to copy to and what bar to start the paste at.

Smoove is right, I do it all the time, copy track in the edit menu asks you what bars from what sequences you want to copy and it aso asks you to which sequence and which bars you are copying TO.
