Theres must be a script that JJ can do which can turn the backlight off after 10 secs, its exactly the same way you can turn the fan off on a standard computer tower.

im not trying to be a smartass, but its this flat plastic stuff thats used in nightlights as well as many other backlights... i just cant remember the name of it now. but ill get back to you on that one. oh and it doesnt last nearly as long as you said earlier.

no, the power is applied directly from the power supply to the backlight of the screen. although it goes across the motherboard, there is no interaction with any of the other circuitry, it's simply on when the mpc's on, and off when the mpc's off.

you're thinking of el (electro-luminescent) backlights, as in the older mpcs. trust me, these newer ones are led backlit.

how then is it diffused over the whole screen evenly, and why does it look exactly like EL? did you take it apart? im completely willing to admit im wrong but im still skeptikal

there's a diffusion layer and multiple LEDs. there's also no inverter (a voltage converter required for EL backlights) inside the MPC1000 plus the thickness of the screen gives it away. the EL backlit LCD screens are very thin. the diffusion layer + LEDs make LED backlit screens fairly thick. The one in the 1K is thick.
