PLEASE HELP!!

Hi.

This is my first post on the forum, I wish it was to offer advice/guidance however I am currently pulling my hair out trying to sync the MPC 2000XL with LOGIC PRO 7 and need your help!

Here are the issues:

I have the MPC (midi out) connected to the Fireface 800 (midi in) and 1/4 inch jacks from the MPC out's to the Fireface 800 inputs, the MPC is set to SYNC options Out "Midi Clock" MMC "On" and Logic is set to "Midi Clock Sync"

I can operate Logic from the MPC i.e Play, Stop etc fine, however when I come to record I arm the audio track in Logic and hit Midi sync (bar turns blue) then Logic waits for me to hit Play on the MPC (the tempo on Logic at this point is 90bpm and the MPC is 90bpm also)

Now here is the problem!

When I hit play Logic starts to record but not to the metronome and it misses the first kick of the drums from the MPC, aswell as this while its recording the tempo in Logic starts to change fluctuating from 90 bpm to 90.256 - 89.234 (random numbers)

All I want to do is make a drum loop on the MPC and record it into Logic to sync with pre recorded samples which are already in logic at the same BPM.

I have the MPC 2000XL and think I have the SMPTE option installed as its got the jacks on the back, if anyone can offer any advice on how to get this working in sync I would be very gratefull!

*UPDATE*

I have now connected the midi cable for the "Fireface OUT" to the "Mpc IN"
my Mpc settings are IN Midi Time Clock (MTC) recieve MMC is ON, Logic settings are Transmit MTC (pointing to mpc)

Questions?

1. Does this mean that Logic is now Master? if so then will I loose the MPC feel? (swing)
2. When I record audio it syncs correctly but if I record the same drum pattern from the Mpc twice the two takes are slightly off and you can hear it! is there anyway around this? as recording takes would be very time consuming to line up.
3. Can i set the Mpc to be Master and Logic the Slave?

I do really appreciate your time in helping me!
