Copying MPC files to a Mac

When I copy my files from an MPC Zip disk to my Mac (G3 350mhz, OS9.2.2) I often get an error message of "File already exists" and then it stops copying. I used to try copying the whole disk at once and I would have this problem. Then I tried copying one folder at a time and it wouldn't happen as often, but it still did on occasion. I have a USB Zip drive hooked up to the Mac. Does anyone else have this problem and if so what do you do?

It is becoming difficult backing up my work because of this because sometimes I can't tell which files copied and which didn't.

I'm not sure i understand your problem, but to solve my problems between my MPC3000 and my Mac, I do the following:

I use lots of Zip disks.

Some are labeled as MPC Master disks. These disks are only used in the MPC as storage and never see the Mac at all.

Others are labeled Mac-MPC transfer disk. These are only used to dump files back and forth between the computer and the MPC. When I finished with them for the day, I trash all of the files from them.

I also use MPCPGMMaker (or in OS9 only- I use MPC3000 Convertor)
To convert WAV OR aiff files into the MPC's SND format.

What i suspect is happening is your computer is telling you that the file exists because it is copying the first of a bunch of similar files over, but because its reading them in "short filename" mode the end of the file is being truncated so they all look the same.

Try getting used to naming all your files on the MPC at 8 or fewer letters, and you wont have this problem.

Seriously, I do save my files with eight characters. I think it has something to do with the format of the Zip disk conflicting with OS9. Does anyone have this problem with OSX?
