Drum Roll Placement...

I learned how to make drums rolls by looking at the demo sequences that came with the MPC in step edit. They place their hits 10 cents apart and in acending velocity. Like tutor said, use the velocity to control your dynamics. (the harder the snare is hit, the brighter the sound, so program your tune and filter to be sensitive to that as well as the attack and decay.)

i think some of you were gettin fills and rolls confused.
the fills would work better with the timing technique posted in the "techniques" post.
i think that drum rolls work the nicest right before a kick or snare lands.
