Hey, new to the forum but not MPCs...having a weird problem with my new 2500.

Transferred a load of samples over USB to internal disk, when I goto the LOAD page, some are recognised but others won't play, and if I just try to load them I get the "Wrong File!" error.

It's frustrating because I know the files are there, cause the space has been taken - this is visible in the SAVE page.

Another problem with transferring samples direct from the PC is that if the name is too long, the MPC can't tell different samples apart! E.G. If I have two samples called

1) big bass drum from hell 1
and
2) big bass drum from hell 2

It will display as "big bass drum f" and it will play neither sound!

Is anyone else frustrated by these issues? Are there any workarounds?

Thanks in advance.

Filenames must be 16 chars or less.

Try this free app for renaming large amounts of files:

http://www.den4b.com

Also, make sure all your files are 16bit / 44.1Khz. If not they won't play.

Thanks - the files were 24bit. Doh!

Got myself a renaming tool as well, called "Bulk Rename Utility", seems pretty good.

I suppose I'll use Audition to batch process the files down the 16/44.1 - anyone else doing it a different way?

Cheers.
