TIME STRETCH ISSUES.

does anyone else's samples sound incredibly distorted/grainy when you do it? im about to pull out the manual and re-read it, but i dont remember them giving a troubleshoot method when explaining time stretch.

perhaps im missing a step? im not messing around w/ making a sequence at the moment, im just pulling samples off of records and messing around w/ them. do i have to do something like creating a sequence before i time stretch the ish?

i have a similar problem, when i try to timestrewtch it, it gives me the beat's BPM instead of the samples BPM, i'm going crazy with this one

you gotta figure out the original bpm of the sample first and plug it in. it has been said also that you cant timestretch past 10-15 percent of the original or it will end up sounding......not so good.

i guess it'll be better to timestretch it on the computer then, and transfer it over through USB

on a side note, is there an easy way to finding out the original bpm of whatever track i sample from?

someone posted this a while back, i havent used it yet so i dont know how accurate it is. theres also a few other ways, i seen dj z-trip say he used to use a stop watch and count beats for 30 seconds and multiply by 2... try doin a search on these forums you should be able to come up with something though. peace.

Oh yea...the tapping technique....


Just take your sample, properly trimmed - put it on the first note of a sequence - adjust the sequences BPM until it loops fine.

Bam, there's your sample's BPM.


Edit: Oh, I forgot: It has to be a 1 bar sequence if your sample is one bar, a 2 bar Seq if it's 2 bars of course.

Does Patched Phrase not do what you need?

As for TimeStretchin I do most of mine on the PC as its far easier.

yeah the mpc 2500 timestretch is wack on anything past 15%

as far as sound quality goes anyone know what program has the best timestretch function?

i havent given myself the oppurtunity to try out the patch phrase features to answer that just yet. as soon as i get off of work tomorrow that's the first thing i will mess with.

When I got my MPC I tried using Time Stretch to get all samples syncd proper, but PP turned out to be what I was looking for.
