Os switching

Can you switch between Akai OS & the JJ OS with no conflicts? I am use to the Akai OS but would like to try JJ. I would like to swicth back and forth for the reason that I have deadlines I must meet with my tracks which makes it entirely impossible for me to have any down time with production. I would like to continue to work and in my "off " time learn the new JJ OS with no worries.

i'd advise to stay with jjos, it's pretty much the same, plus you won't have any chance of experiencing the critical bugs in the akai os. the fact you've got deadlines means you'll be more pissed off if you lose something due to the akai os. remember: "you just won't turn gay, hey, just cos you gone JJ."

So far i haven't had any problems or errors with akai. seems pretty stable to me other than the fact that you have to develop your own file system method so you can keep your tracks in order. I do however want to take advantage of some of the features JJ has to offer.

PS- are os updates free after you have purchased JJ?

Well, if it's working i guess you should be ok, but a lot of people have suffered with the akai os, so be warned.

Thank you for your help. I am leaning towards giving it a try. I had read someone was comparing the OS's but they failed to say if they were uninstalling OS's or if there was a way to switch. Either way I think I am going to give it a try. I do have all of my music backed up so it couldn't hurt. Alot of poeple are saying things are simpler once they switched and JJ has options that the 2500 has but the 1000 doesn't. Wish me luck!

To answer your original question -- there's no "virtual machine"-type instant switch-over option on the MPC. To use a different OS, you have to install that OS, perform the factory reset and reconfigure global options.

Big Swole it's a breeze....there really isn't that much of a learning curve. Just make sure you format the drive with atleast the 3.06 version of jj to eliminate any save issues. By the way good lookin on the help on motifator.

yeah i held off on getting JJOS for awhile because of some work that i had to get done and was worried about a possible setback.

what i found: it's nothing like that at all!

if you have projects going with the akai os then JJOS can operate exactly like that, just without some of the bugs. to take advantage of the JJOS and its new features you have to WANT to use them. not sure if that makes sense, but the new OS doesnt bang you over the head with different shit. it's there if ya want it!

get the OS, dont look back... thank us all later.
