I'm new up in this piece, right.. Copped an MPC 2000 couple months ago.. Been getting busy with it, learning the ins & outs.. Laid down a track & that's cool.. But here's what I want to know, yo.. SOUNDS. Sounds as in programs.. Straight up, where can I get some dope sound programs? I bought a cd at the guitar center that had wav files I can use on the MPC, but they were not only garbage, there wasn't but a few of them, yo...

I need crazy sounds, yo.. Somebody point your boy in the right direction..

Go to a record store and start buying records, play them on a turntable into the inputs and 'sample' the records. you could also get a microphone and plug it in the input and make crazy sounds into it.

this is where production is like war. the sounds are your weapons, i would search on vinyl and many sound sources (TV,cassestte, environmental noise, etc)

And for the record, I got the MPC and FL.. I tell cats the MPC is doper all day every day, word is bond..

Yo I usually listen to music all day at home and at work, and when something comes on that I notice had clean drum sections, I write down the song and artist, so that when I go home I can download the song and chop it in soundforge and use MPCEditor to program it and trasnfer it to the mpc via zip disk.

I then mess with the tone of the sound on the MPC throug the params settings.

It's kind of involved, but outcome is something no one has ever heard before. And drums that no one has considered sampling before.

Yeah, I looked on ebay, but without testimony from someone other than the seller, I don't really know how dope the sounds are.. Which, out of nievety, I found out the hard way buying that cd with wav files from the guitar center.. The whole $35 cd was nothing more than patterns it sounded like some fool made off fruity loops (not even advanced patterns at that), and just a couple wav kicks, snares and hats. Worst $35 I ever spent, & I won't do it again unless I know I'm getting something dope.. I know the experts up in this piece gots that knowledge, yo..

And its funny, I might add.. I had an ASR 10 back in the day, right.. Sold it cuz times was hard.. But when I had it, I kept asking cats if I have that, why did I need an MPC? Having one now, I see why.. The ASR would have been somewhere collecting dust.. MPC for life, yo.. This thing is sick!

Yeah, I was just reading some thread where some alchemist cat said he dumped his ASR for an MPC. Just so nobody thinks the god is jumping on bandwagons saying things other people say, I'll spell out why I dig the MPC more.. Only thing the ASR got over the MPC is effects.. Actually the asr had a gang of functions that in day to day beatmaking, I didn't even use too tough.. They both sample, so whatever.. But effects aside, I feel more comfortable tapping out my beats on these pads than those keys.. I can add effects a beat once I send it to pro-tools..

there are a many libraries you can buy... here and many other places (just google it)... but as alot of people I like to sample... i also like recording noises from other places.. when i cop a tape recorder i'm recording the ticks from my girls stove when you put it on high heat, that there is a crispy hi hat.
