Like many of you, the 16 levels button is a very important part of making most of my beats. I mostly use it for the tuning function. The problem that I'm having is that occasionaly, when I got into 16 levels tuning, it will not let me change the "original key pad" which is defaulted at pad 4. It will still let me open the 16 levels function, but only with the original key on pad 4. It's kind of a pain when trying to go lower than that. Anyone else have this problem or know what causes or solves it?

Thanks,

Cam

Try installing a newer o/s and see if that helps.

u are changing the starting pad number with the wheel and not the actual hitting of the pad right?

Cuz hitting pad chooses the sound to assign 16 levels to, then your wheel chooses the starting pad.

I'm just double checking cuz it sounds like a weird problem.

Yeh its really weird.. it only happens every now and then but its a real **** when your in the middle of a beat. And I got the latest OS, also i tried using the pads and the wheel the pads just change the sound.. I duno, I thought it might be an akaiism, some weird shit, but if none of you guys have heard of it.. i duno! I guess I'll throw it out and get a new one hahaha. Not likely.

Yeah, I got exactly the same problem.

I think it's just a bug.

Just save your beat and reboot your mp.

never heard of that hmm. it may take a bit more time, but you can work around that by tuning your sample down first in PROGRAM mode and then using 16 levels. will take longer but not sure what else to say about that

yeah the same shit has happened to me, must be a glitch in the matrix. sometimes it corrects itself, no rhyme no reason.

i have that same problem.
even if i were to reboot the mp it would still do the same.
but it happens off and on and its annoying.

It used to change in the beginning but now it won't let me change it anymore. Don't know really what's going on.

maybe a bit late but still...

an other way to work around the problem can be to create a new program using 'auto chromatic assignment'

go to program mode (shift+6)
choose your drum
press 'auto' F5

SOURCE: select your '16 level tune sound'
ORIGINAL KEY: select (with the data wheel) the pad which will play the original sound; BANK A B C or D!
TUNE: never mind...
PROGRAM NAME: whatever

now you have created a new program with 64 levels

yeah thats a good technique but i prefer using less programs as possible. i usually use the auto chromatic assignment but i don't always have my midi keyboard with me.

i tried it today and it worked. i guess the xl will only do it when it wants to do it.
