sometimes the mpc will put the wrong program for u for a sequence
and make sure each track is on the appropriate program....i thought my mpc was f'n up a few times...but it was just that

And my problem is quite possible due to using a freeware program editor. I haven't confirmed this yet, but it sounds like a problem someone else had for this reason...
FWIW, I wouldn't let this stuff scare you off. It's a very usable machine.

Ok.. the bugs i got (so far):

* Samples can cut out for no reason during record or playback... even though polyphony aint maxed out or mute groups are off.

* Sometimes I mute a track, for example, a bass line and the samples in a different track cut out.. this even happens when unmuting the track too...

* Me and my bro sometimes make loops and just freestyle over them for a about 20 mins or so.. during the 20 mins u can guarantee that even if it s just a four bar loop and no one's sitting near the mpc, a sample can cut out or just not play at all... a ghost? lol kinda freaky

It has been very useful to me but there are a few things that NEED to be ironed out...

lol yeah.. sounds liek u got same prob as me.. coz they actually cut out when the drums are triggered.. so everythings still in time.. i actually left a few of these random breaks in some recordings coz they can sounds good.. but yeah it is annoying when u dont want it to happen..

maybe what is going on is this... there is some weirdness going on about the length of a sample in the step edit.. the D i mean.

if the note overlaps with the same note on a pad it's gonna cut out. so you gotta make sure that's not happening.

maybe that's it?

probably....i've experienced this this same way...rarely but it can be annoying. i usually let my 8 bar loops play to get more ideas and i've noticed this a few times. nothing THAT serious though i do pray it doesnt happen while recording into the pc 8)

My MPC does this too. This is unacceptable.

I have an idea, let's make sure that this thread stays on the front page of this forum until it is resolved. I do not want Akai to make money off of a faulty product. It was embarrassing for me to go back to Guitar Center twice to return a brand new product. They have not treated me the same since. I feel that this problem is absolutely retarded. They have been aware of it for a while and did not address it in their last OS update... something seems fishy here. You would also think that someone at Akai would be aware of this forum, probably the most comprehensive mpc resource. They are totally ignoring their customers. That is whack. I have been to many other "much smaller" yahoogroups for different instruments that have a representative or representatives from the respective company keeping people informed... the decent thing to do. Akai have been around for a long time and they have gained a good product reputation and a lousy customer service one. We all have the internet now and they can't be pulling the same shit anymore. Make sure that this thread stays at the top. Don't buy their shit until it works. Look at how fired up I am getting over a product I do not own and am not willing to support.
