Filter Question..

Peace to all up in here, yo..

Yeah, quick question.. I'm at work thinking about it.. I've played with the filter, & gotten down to just the bassline, right.. Does it work in the opposite direction, whereas I can take the bass out & have the high stuff, like the horns still there?

im usin a 2000 and the filter on it dosnt filter out the lows only the highs

I use the Yamaha MG10/2 mixer. Each channel has a 3 band EQ so I can filter before the signal hits thaMP. My TT and DVD player are both connected to it and I just turn the dial to the left when I need to filter.

you'll need the fx expansion board to use a high pass filter

Akai is wack for that! GET A MIXER

If you need a ghetto high pass filter...
-make an exact copy of the sample
-invert the phase
-assign the new sample to the same pad
-you should hear nothing now if the filter is open
-now try closing the filter and it will work like a hipass in reverse

It works better than the effects card... but I'd still always do it outboard if I was in the studio. Cool trick on the road though.

Yeah, dog, I gots a mixer I run all my signals thru before they get to the MPC.. But even when I turn the bass down, some of it is still there.. I'm wanting it almost eliminated, like when you filter down to the bass, and the highs are GONE..

I have an akai MFC. It has both high and low band bass filters and some other effects. You can use it to filter before you sample ... or you can use it between the outs and your recording device.
