we are fairly sure there is some difference in the newer model pads of the mpc1000 - but as far as i know, it's only more thick silicone gluing of the pressure transducing rubber to the contact of the sensor. unfortunately, while this will hold them for a longer period, it will NOT be forever - carbon impregnated rubber sloughs, which means the spot where the silicone glue holds it in place will shed a layer and the PTR will slide off again.
buy a used blue and haggle them based on bad pads, you'd save more money that way. bonus points/more money off for a finnicky rotary encoder, bad tact switches, etc. "shoot the moon" if you can find a replacement for the CF card, since those are still on backorder even at vst.
