MPC 2000 XL w/Roland VS 2400

Potentially purchasing a MPC 2000 XL - I am assuming you can MIDI up to a recorder and lay down tracks one by one to a recorder? I will be using a Roland VS2400. The PDF file on the AKAI said this was possible. I just wanted to get thoughts from everyone here on this process.

Got the same set-up. Make sure you cop the 8 outs for the mp or treacking out is gonna take forever.
