the mixing down thing is called resampling. it's just like creating any other sample but youre using an internal patch to sample the mpc's main outs (and only the main outs, not outputs 1-4)
even with the RAM upgrade u aint gonna get a 3 minute song in there. but if you have a 2 bar loop with a bunch of variations, resample each of those. clear out space by dumping the new samples to your PC and sequence the resampled stuff there.
not that it's really gonna save any of the mpc's punchy sound (as people are describing it here, i think of it as beefy more than punchy but what-fukkin-ever).
