i am 39, love music and hope to be able to make music until i die. how old is quincy jones (over 65), jimmy jam and terry lewis (over 40) and prince (over 40) (i bet all have touch a mpc in the last 30 days) so, it does not make a differents how old you are. if all of you 20 year olds hearts are into the music you will be playing until you are dead. if not, you would have been frontin your whole life. i still think software is a better option than hardware but will not argue. if you love music the way you say you do you will being making it for years to come. so all the pictures are very nice and funny but lets keep it real if music is a large portion of your life you will be playing forever. you guys have a nice day. there is nothing negitive here. peace.

with Real musician/producers/whatever, music is like crack. i have gotten up in the middle of the nite to put some sh*t down. so that retirement stuff sounds like someone who heart is not into his craft. being able to make music is a gift and one who is 20 or so and cant see themselfs making music when they are 40, 50, 1000 does not have that gift. with the software thing i have been using hardware for over 15 years and the software is something new. for the older heads, what is like to take your hardware system and reconfigure it? that alone makes software more appealing to me. but it does not matter if you use hardware, software, 4 track, bounce your tracks on two cassettes or whatever, if you cant see yourself making music for life you are not playing the game but fakin it. peace.

When I used to visit my grandmother in the nursing home, I'd try to imagine what it would be like to have an MPC with headphones on a table next to the Craftmatic adjustable bed. I'd have to use "full levels" because at that point I wouldn't have the strength to bang on the pads with the right velocity. That's not such a bad way to go. When we had the wake for my grandfather, we placed his dumbek (middle eastern hand drum) on top of the coffin. I was thinking "that's how I want to leave this earf." (snif, snif)

this why the other thread went crazy because the young guys do not know the game. just beacause you have any music making equiment does not make you a producer/musician/rapper/dj/whatever it is what in the heart that counts. not smoke up a storm and say "hey man that hot". you can feel things are hot when you are making a piece. that is the gift. it may come once every two months, where for dr. dre or primo is comes every other minute you know when the gift is there. talking is not the gift, making music is (for us old guys aleast). i am no dr. dre or primo but every month or two something special happens on my lab and that high is unbelieve. that is why i think i have a gift. not a flame but general question, what makes you think you have a gift? because you have mpc.

Why did you carry this over into an argument again? We all know that the only the real muthafu*** that do this ish do it for the music. They just have to do it. It is what you are born to do. I sit in the lab all day and have been for about 3 yrs. I know I ain't ish, but I dont care. I havent posted any beats of new and better ish, just cause I dont really care about what people really think of it. When Im feel that I am ready to make real money to do this, I will make the transition from bedroom to business. You have to be confident, skilled, experienced, resorcefull, hungry and disciplend in order to be professional. Dosent matter what gear you use. So egnough of this BS thread. I know its "not a flame", but Im getting tired of the instigating. So just chill back and help people out instead of being fancitical a having the last word. These people spent about $1,000 to $10,000 on gear and need help to use it. If you know how to help, help. Dont call people idiots and then give them wrong answers. Or try to start constraversy in threads. I dont really care why anybody is doing there music. If its dope, its dope. You dont need a PC or a MPC or a fancy board, just skills, creativty, and a desire to make good music. if you have more skills or knowledge help the newjacks out. This isnt whos got the biggest d***. Help others and you will get it back tenfold.
