Nah man, its more then fine to use what some one else has used.. its about using it in a diff way.. rockin it how u would urself.. showin what else can be done with it.. bettering the previous beat made with it etc.. thats hiphop man.

If u want tips u should watch the beat diggin and deep crates documentarys, speakin of which Pete Rock mentions about usin same samples that have been used.. and that no one owns a sample, that its about rockin it a diff way etc and showin what else can be done.

Another tip I forgot to mention: Make sure to listen to records on headphones sometimes, especially when listening to pre-1970(ish) stuff because back in the day some producers would pan things hard one way or the other...so what may sound like a full arrangment on speakers could actually have a dope loop without the drums (or something) in the right channel and a bass and drums loop in the left.

usually you get this effect in mono records ...where you can separate vocals and drums on your speakers .

complex - Good lookin out on those links homie, I tell u what that documentary was ill but that trailor looks nuts and damn lol guess I was wrong producers look at it in a different light, more cut throat lol...

like if you think you can flip the sample and make it sicker then do it....I love the approach, I just thought maybe that was kinda like intentionally jackin another producers steez you know....

Mech - yea man sweet tip, although I did end up finding this out on a trial run it was wild to, cuz I had this sick string sample and i think it had a light layer of drums on it but figured I'd try and see what I could do with some EQ tweekin....but low and be hold I noticed the different wav forms panned so I just clipped that drum layer all together and was buggin at how clean and crisp the string solo was and it made my day alot easier, converted to stereo and in the mp it went hah.....

e.d.e. - yea, is there any way to know this by visually looking at the record? or is it something you just have to throw on and see....so much knowledge to soak in with this shit, learn mad ish daily but need to slow down so it can soak in a bit....lol...

basicaly if you read the label it will tell you if it's stereo or mono, usually the later yrs .
i cant say that theres certain labels cause theres many labels that recorded like this .
