Multi Sounds

I got a quick question if you guys can help me out. I got an m-audio 49e keystation hooked up to my mpc and right now I've gone through every chapter of the handbook and cant figure out how to get the octave of one instrument to go on every key. It only plays what are on my pgm right now and it is limiting me very much. Im just wondering if I need a diffrent keyboard or something?

Which model MPC are you using?

damn I thought I put that up there but im using a blue mpc 2000xl with card reader. Basicly what I want to do is put one piano sound on all 49 keys that way they change octave. But right now all it does is just play the sounds that are on my pads on each key. Do I need a diffrent keyboard of is there a midi setting on the mpc to change this?

There is a function on the 2000XL called AUTOCHROMATIC ASSIGNMENT
Open the program window for your program (eg. DRUM 1etc.) and press f5 [AUTO].
Select your source sound and specify which note it should fall on.
A new program will be made after you press DO IT, so give it a new name. Then you can use your keyboard for the full range

This works well for some sounds (like those from a synthesizer) but for a piano or other natural sounds, you would do better to learn how to multi-sample. A full explanation of which is contained in the e-book BEAT MAKING ONTHE MPC2000XL advertised on this very site.
