RAM Details

Okay, from what I've read so far it's appears that PC133 144pin w/ 4 chips seems to be working. As many have noted (even with the Akai ram) that whatever you get will be half of what your bought. 256 is actually 128 and 128 is 64. For those who have working ram it would be greatly appreciated if you gives us brand and where you purchased from? In the end I suppose it would be easier to pay more and get the sure thing but that's why these forums are so important. KNOWLEDGE is POWER.

BTW: the company is making stuff that are sold with other brand markings as well. now it's time to digg into the menues of my new mpc1k

Stop bein cheap and just cop the 128mb memory ram for $110 its not that much playa!

$110 for 128MB is outrageous. I haven't paid close to a dollar a MB for like 8 years. It's b*llsh*t.

you are saying that the actual akai-branded chip is really a 256 chip that reads 128 ??

I sold it to praecox. I'm running a pc shop and had some old laptop Sodimm laying around. It seems it's not available anymore at my distributors and I can't find it on corair's site either. I ordered that module about 8 months ago. You should find it on stock at your corsair retailer. There must be alot of them in in the USA (corsair is US based). We're from Belgium. I'll try to check out what the exact SN was. I remember it had samsung chips which are known for their very low latencies.
As I use an mpc2kxl I'm not really into this discussion. just email me if you got any questions maybe i can hep you, maybe..

Today I purchased a 256MB stick of memory from MicroCenter in Atlanta and the memory works fine in the MPC 1000. The memory was $54. You can also order it from their website. I took pictures of the actual memory in the MPC and of my screen but I do not know how to attach pictures to the post. I also loaded up over 100mb of samples and it worked flawlessly. Is the 1K reading the whole 256MB??? I'm getting a 1K in a couple of weeks and I really don't wanna come off $110 for memory unless I really have no other choice.

it gives you 64MB for 17$CAN, not bad at all
