samplig from a c.d. walkman

i've sampled from my discman going from the headphone jack to the stereo in's and have had no problems.

trh, was your discmans volume maxed out???

no, it wasn't maxed out.

wow, i thought mine made noise when it wasnt maxed (or near maxed)

i sample from a portable cd player connected to my dj mixer using the earphone jack. volume all the way up on the cd player. gain all the way up on the mixer (lol thats basically my default!). volume on the "up & down" about 7ish & adjust the gain on the mp as needed. it works fine for me & my cd player is a cheapie. the only time i get noticeable noise is when i forget to hit the line switch on my other turntable

i was just playing around with my walkman. it was the first time I sampled ANYTHING using the mpc. i actually got the idea from this post....

but when I tried it came out so low and with a lotta noise. how can I make it louder and less noise!

i plugged it into my mixer and from my mixer it went to my 488. it came out terrible. i did it at least 10 times.

I used to sample like that all the time when I had my yahama

throw the cd in an old playstation or dreamcast or whatever, and have the stereo outs go into your mixer... I sampled from a cd walkman and it was bareley useable so I scrapped the sample and never used it.

maybe my ear isn't as well trained or whatever... but when i sample from my discman, it sounds fine. i used one of those newer sony sync discmans (or discmen?) anyways, the only problem i have is i can only sample from the left channel (i think) because it only has one mono output, the headphone jack.

Open up a wave editor on your PC.
Throw your cd into the computer cd drive.
Open the CD within your wave editor.
Chop out the sounds you like or whatever.

If you have floppy just save them on a PC -FAT- formatted floppy.
If you have zip, same thing. Use only 8 characters for filename.
That's it.

I used a discman when I first got my ASR and it was the best thing since sliced bread. The directions everyone else gave on here should work just fine. I had ONLY my ASR and I was fine. Headphone out to line in MPC. Turn up the discman to 7-9 volume.

good idea. i was thinkin of that but floppys dont hold much. not a lot of space. i need an scsi adapter for my computer. i guess ill stop bein picky and get one

if you dont want to use the disc man because you think its cheap......just put the cd in your cd-rom drive and put a cord in the headphone jack on it and hook it to your mpc.......and WAHLAH it will be just fine
