Am I the only one that thinks that the sensivity of the pads are to low?
Even with '16' in the 'others' option.

I don't like hittin' my MPC as hard to get that 'full level' sound.

any thoughts?

i always bang'em with the full level on, if i need something sounding softer i lower the velocity in the track.

I'm totally with you on this one tag!

temetrepo, what's the point of having velocity sensitive pads if you ain't gonna use them?

what i'd like to see in the pad sensitivity screen is the ability to set "high" and "low"

kind of like crossbar faders. you could set a bottom pressure threshold which would set the pad to respond at a certain pressure, and then a ceiling, which would be full 127. that'd be a much better way to "tune" the pads than the current 1-16 sensitivity and velocity curve options.

kind of like midisense, where you can calibrate minimum and maximum values for the sensors to send cc data from 1-127.

Go tell JJ :D

No really...you actually don't have to hit your pads "hard" to get full level, but "fast" - hence the term velocity. This is not necessarily the same.

Also, if you narrow down the bandwidth between lowest and highest necessary pressure too much, by setting thresholds or by just lowering the max. pressure limit, don't you also make it harder to get all the different levels in between?

i agree here, pads are completely useless in velocity mode, i never can get the sounds velocity twice the same not even close, it sounds like 16 different people are drumming every drum once and switching with eachother.

also every pad has an complete different response, some of them need an hammer to get the 127, some others only need a feather to get to 127

so i also only use the full level mode, since if i don,t, you spend up more time setting the velo levels in the step edit.

sometimes i hit lets say the kick harder in some parts and softer in others, and i need it sound the same throughout the 4 bar loop, if i need something at a lower vol i'll change the velocity right there, is a lot easier for me.

I do not have an mpc 2500, but I think they are all pretty similiar. The sensitivity is not very good, I definetly have to agree with that. I usually use the full level and when I need to use different velocities, I just turn on the 16 levels.

I have taken to turning everthing down and now find it works very well especially on drums. If one hit is not loud enough you can always redo it in grid edit w/- full level. heaps easier than going the other way....

Don't get me wrong, I use full level at times but I prefer to work the other way round, using velocity sensivity on the pads and then fixing the hits which are really wrong, I think it gives much more realisting feeling with less effort than introducing fake realism by tweaking numbers.

That doesn't make sense... isn't the point of velocity mode to create some kind of dynamics to the volume levels of your samples?
