i am a beginner,and i need some help with just getting start

what up,
can some one out there please help me, i have just got the mpc1000 and i really don't know that much about it at all or really what are the basics of a rap beat. well i kno about hi hats and snare and bass and stuff but what shoud i start off with when making a rap beat?

got this page http://www.akaipro.com/int/mpc1k/sounds.html and download unzip and load up the 808 kit via USB. pads A1 and A2 i think are the kick and snare, start there: hit record and just listen to the click for awhile and watch the 1-2-3-4 numbers counting off on the screen. notice the 1's POP louder than the 2-3-4's. slap the kick pad once when the 1 comes around. always make sure your beat starts on the 1. as it loops around again and again, add the snares, then go back and add the rest of the kicks where they feel right. THEN add hats and whateva else.......

only in america, you buy mpc RIGHT AWAY when you dont have a clue what is a beat.=) i've done 4 years music with mad tracker 2, (WHICH IS FREE) and know i'm transferring to mpc1000. why buy mpc to your first hardware/software, you dont even know do you enjoy making beats.
but that's ok if you got the money, just hard to understand. but good luck to you anyway, i hope you learn to make good beats.=)

Sit down w/ the manual and the mpc1000 together. Start on page one and first learn the basics of operating the machine before you start making beats. It may be slow going at first, but a basic foundation of how the 1K works is essential. It will pay off as time progresses.

Additionally:

Although a common practice in the U.S., buying something before you are sure you want it, or if you will enjoy using it, is not a strictly American characteristic -- although some would like to think so.

everyone jumps on the kid, but when you guys started out I bet you were just as confused as him. I taught myself to make beats buy listening to what's in a beat and figuring it out, ok, boom boom bap, tickticktick goes the hi hat... imitate it... now freak it your own way... it wasnt' rocket science but in the beginning it's not exactly like pouring a bowl of cereal and adding milk for chirst sake...

effekt, if you got issues with your dad and/or what he "reads" to you before bed, save it for the daddytouchesme-forum, not the mpc1k board.

ohhhh i thought you were dissing the simple kick-snare advice and i couldnt figure out what was so wrong with it ha ha.

the manual is adequate i guess, but could use a little better design and indexing. and separate the japanese-english versions. i was an mpc2000 user way back so i know the interface but i can easily undertand the "where the hell do i start" perspective of a first time user.

and like eric b & rakim said....."it aint where you from its where you at"

first of all i know more about most of you at making beats so sqrew all ya'll who took me the wrong way and thanks to those who tried to help. but the main thing i was asking was how to work with the mixer and a what velocities should sounds be at the make a hip hop song and sound good
another thing is does anyone know where i can get good hip hop sounds like the kicks and bass used in todays music thanks alot
