Turntable, Mixer, Receiver, MPC 2000xl Setup Question

Hello!

Just got a 2000xl and I'm having some trouble with the inital setup. I have two Technics 1200s, a Vestax 06 Pro mixer, a basic Kenwood receiver and the MPC. I understand that I run my second line out of the mixer to the "record in" on the MPC then I run the "stereo" out from the MPC into the receiver - but where? I did run the stereo out into another input in the receiver (CD) but I can barely hear the playback and I have to crank the volume to get anywhere. I currently have the mixer going into the "phono" input of my reciever which I was told was not the proper way to set up the tables but any other input than phono again is barely audible. Do I have to switch over from to seperate inputs on the receiver when wanting to playback on the MPC and listen to records, or is there is bypass on the MPC that allows me to leave my receiver on "phono" to do both? I do have the right cables (2 rca to 1/4 in. jacks). I know that this is a basic question but I've been baffled for a while. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you!

have you been able to use the other inputs on the receiver for their intended purposes w/ success? ie. a cd player into cd input or md/tape into the tape input?

Yes - with no problems.

You really shouldn't have plugged your vestax into the Phono input! That's probably messed the amp up a lot because the phono input is meant for the raw signal from a turntable and when you put a (comparatively) bloody loud line level signal through it it will go nuts. Plug your decks into a CD input or summat from the out of the mixer. Then plug the the out from the amp into the MPC and then plug the MPC into another "in" on the amp. Then when just using the decks, use the CD input and when using the MPC use the other input. Although you may have **** the amp up so you might not be able to use it. That's the proper way to do it...

Instead of going
turntable > dj mixer > reciever > mpc
go
turntable and reciever > dj mixer > mpc

your dj mixer should have a phono and line in input for each channel

This may just be personal preference but is it best to run the stereo out from the MPC to the receiver or through the mixer? It works great for me both ways but will one affect the sampling process more than the other? I'm speaking in terms of sample quality. Thanks again to all those who helped out.
