Ram Upgraded with Non Akai memory!

:P I purchased a 128meg ram stick yesterday from TigerDirect and the MPC picked up 64 megs of it. The memory stick i purchased was a PNY 128MB PC133 SODIMM 133MHz Memory. The memory is on sale right now for $17.97 CANADIAN. Installation was a breeze and I've tested it out. All seems to work okay. Just thought I'd share my experience with everyone.

same here.

133mhz 128mb SO-DIMM.

I'm not so knowledgeable on these memory sticks, but if it helps it had four ... four.. "memory bank silicon thingies" on one side and none on the other.

tested fine, I now have 64mb of memory. BO!

Does it have to be PNY memory, or do the specs just have to be PC133 SODIMM 133MHz? Viking memory, Kingston, etc - will those modules work too?

why don't you get the 256 memory and have the full 128 register??

cuz 128 is 17$ canadian, the 256 is 96$. :) That is enough of good reasons. Plus, at 96$ I prefer to ad another 30$ and get the original AKAI chip.

well I really hope this works, I just ordered one of them. Does anybody know if this memory is Volitile or not-Volitile??
oh and the rebate expires 3/31 so if you are going to order one you better do it tonite or tomarrow

thanks effekt for the link. I got the rebate too. I stopped the order I had at guitar center/nyc where they were charging $130.00 + tax for the akai chip.

Of curse its Volatile, its RAM. not ROM of Flash.

i ordered mine Tuesday morning and it was here by today!!! thanks a bunch for the tip. 64mb. suits me fine
