What is so special about the MPC sequencer?

YO!! i bought a F'n MPC and it's like cream cheese on a bagel.
that's good.
i hear what that dude's saying about the neptunes. the robotic beats were probably sequenced on their Korg keyboards. i got a Korg Karma, which is based on the triton. the beats did come out really robotic (but perfect). i'm using the MPC w/ drum samples and MIDI controling the Karma. i love it. the MPC makes everything so much easier. the best way to sequence on the Karma is through some crazy software that is a major pain in the ass to use, it works, but it's too complex (and poorly designed).

but i def. agreee that the sequencer on the mpc is ill. i dont sample with the mpc but the sequencer is well worth the money i spent for my xl. if i could go back i might have bought a reg. 2000 or a used 60 for under a "g" but im still very happy with my decision.

timbaland does not use a mpc.... he use a asr 10

actually the mpc, if you heavily quantize, will be stiffer than anything which relies on midi for its internal clock...as the mpc doesnt use midi internally all the hits will play at the same time when put on the same tick but in a midi based seq they will play after each other as midi can only process one thing at once....

so this thing about the neptunes stuff sounding robotic and it therefore cant be an mpc is bollox....the mpc is internally tighter due to no midi.....

MPC- No magic swing but very tight sequencer....
