Akai Mpc1000 with jjos what can i say?

This is the fastest way of getting down music i have ever owned.

I have just created the basis of 2 5min tunes in the space of half an hour.

The quickest sequencer i had b4 hand was my trusty (cheap as chips) Yamaha rm1x a legend in its own right. 2hrs to get the basis of 1 track

My triton has that beautiful touch screen navagation but i have never really mastered its sequencer (i think i should and i will do eventually) 6hrs to get same result as rm1x.

SX3 can be fun (makes me play with other computer stuff<---not good) 2hrs the same as rm1x but lacks half of the quick edit options of the rm1x.


Mpcs are amazing to work with i wish i made the switch years ago. Had the same prob as most and bought a few pieces of gear that i never really used (knowledge is power) this time i did all the reading first and found it had all the features i should of known i was after.

Hey bees you might be right and no offense taken but what came first the chicken or the egg (in this case i belive it was akai with the mpc so respect goes were respects due)

It has its flaws (like all things)

It was the mpc itself i was praising. The reason i posted so that others can read how i find it (lots of peeps here don't own one and are looking)

Reason i posted in the jjos forum cos lost time i posted in the 1000 forum my post was moved and rightly so as i don't use the aki os

i was sequencing with an rm1x prior to my mpk1 too, and I agree the mp1k is much better.
But now that I've got the mpc all figured/pimped out with JJ's os, I'm getting back into the rm1x, and using it in tandem with the mp1k as a midi input module.
For example, I've got some patterns in my rm1x that are simple phrases, but each track has different midi FX and delay settings.
It's pretty good for getting some interesting bouncing ball type midi and other experimental shig into the mpc. Then there's the grid (X0X) sequencing, arp and other goodies in the rm1x that are good for recording into the mpc too.

im in my eighth year of production, four of which ive been doing professionally and i cant believe just recently, in the last two months, have i fully incorporated an MPC into the arrangement. now i cant imagine what life would be without it.

absolutely ridiculous and most importantly, really fun to work with!

i actually did read the post.. but what else is new.. maybe make a praise mpc forum then.. ?

i like to use this forum for topics about the jj os itself or problems/bugs/suggestions/discussion.. nah mean?

no offense but unless the praise posts get outrageously out of control, id prefer to just keep things how they are. do you really see a JJ praise forum? i mean, who would go there?

i would have never bought the JJ OS if i wouldnt have lurked in this forum for a few weeks, reading comments like the above... including ones like mine.

the more people that see this sort of thing, the more the OS sells, the greater our chances are of continued support and advances in the OS. it's not like he's been doing this for years and years and we should just assume that he's going to continue to. anything that lends to the project, in any way, is a positive IMO. putting money in his pocket, encouraging others to buy it. that's basic economic support that will NEED to be there down the road.

i dont think there's enough where it waters down the rest of the content here. maybe we'd have to revisit the conversation if that were to change but even if there was ALWAYS one praise post on the front page, that would do a lot more good than bad and you could always just choose to ignore it.

after all, you took the time to comment and bump the thread to the top and then solicit my opinion in a roundabout way.

i'd be very interested in hearing what you cats with the rm1xs are doing idea wise along with the mpc, I used to have an rs7000, hated the sample file management but the sequencer on that thing is one bad mofo, and I'm just trying to imagine all the tripped out shit you could sequnecing your mp
