Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

i just bought an mpc 500 (i use the 1k for main use) and just to test the feel and response of the pads i loaded up a simple snare,hi hat, kik at full levels but when i am trying to play an easy beat at a fast tempo it doesnt want to work and i feel like the only way to get the pad to work is by really hitting it (example would be a triplet hi hat) it wont work unless i really mash on it but then i lose the rhythm is this because the pads are brand new or is the mpc just defective?
to kind of put it into more of a perspective if this helps i get a better response on the 1k than i do on the 500

Maybe give it a little time, you'll get used to the 500's pads. They are not as sensitive as the pads on my 2500 either, so I feel you there. I think the 500 pads have their own signature feel...no matter what they will never be as sensitive as your 1000 IMO. So get use to it.

Push the "full level button", and you dont have to smash the mpc anymore

once u get used to the 500's feel the "bad response" isnt there anymore, and without full levels on either.
