Baseline

Ok Im really new to the beats and I was watching a couple of people on you tube make beasts but they put a basline in. What is a basline and how do I mak a Baseline for make beats?

th ebassline gives it that "oomph". it just fills out the track and holds it together, sometimes the "bassline" is just a real bassy kick drum.

ps. find a nice bass sample off of vinyl or a one-shot sample of a bass note, put the 12levels on,on the mpc. then select the bass sample and play a bassline, the notes will be spread out on the pads.

Ah! I was about to post the same thing. I was wondering how to apply the low end theory to my samples on the 500. I'm using samples with defined basslines, but the filter seems kinda weak.

So, how does one spread a one-shot across the pads? I don't recall seeing how to do this in the manual, but I probably overlooked it ... by accident!

the same way you would spread any sample across the pads, 12 levels. Right?? I'm not sure I understand your question.

Haha, my oops. What I was asking was, how do you spread samples across the 12 pads. I don't know how to do that and I don't recall the manual explaining it.

I bet you mean a bass line. I use those wooden things with 4, 5 or even 6 thick strings to lay them bass lines down and then chop them up in the MPC.

I'm referring to distributing any sample across the 12 pads.

I think you mean programming the pads. loading each pad with a sample.

Okay ... so there's no simple way to assign one sample to all 12 pads?? You have to assign the sample to each pad individually?? LOL. I'm sitting here thinking there's a way the MPC can automatically assign a desired sample to all the pads. LOL, wow I feel idiotic ...

I think you mean spreading one sound across all 12 pads so that each pad varies slightly in either tune, velocity, or filter, right? if so, then all you gotta to do is assign that sound to one pad and press the 12 levels button (its 16 on my 2500, same thing though). the screen will ask you what pad you want to spread and then you just would hit the desired pad. press close and boom one sample spread over the 12 pads.

Yeah. The 12 levels feature is what I was looking for. I don't know how I overlooked that in the manual. So much for speed reading.
