I have an mpc 60 and I am wondering how much do I need to tune down the sample to bring it to the original pitch/tuning when sampling at 45rpm?

Thanks.

i think it's something around 50.. a little more or a little less maybe..

try it out, sample the same thing with both 33 and 45 and then make them fit, you should find it quite easily

yeah, last i checked, it was around -52 or so. sample at 45 +8% and bring it down to -65.

LOOK!

i did the same thing!

45rpm and +8% pitch.

i sampled a test tone and then compared the signal to see where the mpc should be so it can come back to its original pitch.

and to be specific, -66 tuning is as much as close it can get!!!

hope this helps...

its ok with drums not to be at the same pitch but when you sample loops, basslines and stuff you dont want to loose the original note key...

holla back!

plus,

even when i sample loops off my wavelab, i pitch them up like 8 notes up or even 10.
Then i tune like -80 or -100 and you can here the low sample rate.

sounds cool.

beauty of sampling is, you dont always have to be exact. slight detuning adds flavor. and you can always detune your keyboard or sound modules to match the pitch of your samples. as long as they are in tune relative to each other, sample pitch can go out the window.

CORRECT!!!

Ive thought of it a while ago... I mean doing it on purpose!!

When i first start making beats that happened all the time.
Used my ear to match up samples and sounds from modules.
I didnt know much about harmonics and notes but my hears and mind did the work.

Remember: the most accurate tool in any studio is the human mind and, to be precise, it's preception.

not to sound flippant because using your ear is important but.... machines are much more precise and accurate than your mind.

Yes they are, I know that. But if something is wrong your mind should be able to let you know.

Plus, the factor of human error (human feel) should be part of any music.

Isn't that what shuffle on the mpc60 is about?

Ok... about -66 or -65 for a 12" 33rpm sampled at 45rpm and +8

but what about a little 7" 45rpm record only sped up to +8? (since it's originally at 45 already).

I know some don't need to have it exact... but I want the original, exact speed... since I figure out the root key of the song I am sampling, before I sample it and need the sample to be in perfect original pitch/key, as I need to know and stick to the same root key for when I add more chords, basses, riffs, solos to the production.

thanks :)

Would this work for 7" 45rpm record only sped up to +8? Since we already have the numbers for a 33 played at 45rpm and also 45rpm & +8....

Just use the number/value from the difference on the already found information between a 33rpm played at: 45rpm (-52) vs. 45rpm & +8 (-66)... which is detune by -14. ....would this be correct?
